9 Days Kenya Classic Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve
Early morning drive to Samburu via the Kenya highlands with views of tea, coffee and subsistence farmlands. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Samburu National Reserve is one of East Africa’s popular destinations located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River. The area is gently low lying due to lava flow that resulted from volcanic activities. Acacia trees are dominant in the region while animals such as zebra, buffalo, lions, leopards and others are in large numbers.

Day 2: Full Day in Samburu National Reserve
Enjoy full day game drive with parked lunch in search of the Northern special 5. The rare species animals include the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk and the Besia Oryx. The rocky habitat makes it one of the most conducive environments for spotting a Leopard. Elephants are also in plenty along the Ewasonyiro River. The famous Kamunyak lioness that adapted a baby Oryx is a resident of the reserve. Due to aridity conditions in the region, animals find water from oases within the park. The climate here is hot and semi-arid.

Day 3: Samburu – Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Start with an early morning game drive after breakfast as you exit Samburu National Reserve for Ol Pejeta. Our route takes you directly across the equator while traveling through Mt. Kenya area, passing numerous farms along the way. You will arrive Ol Pejeta Conservancy just in time for lunch there after embark on an afternoon game drive. The Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals, including the Big Five (the endangered black and white rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and lion), Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, cheetah, and chimpanzee. Ol Pejeta was established to rehabilitate animals rescued from the black market.

Day 4: Ol Pejeta – Aberdare National Park
Enjoy an early morning drive through the scenic central Kenya highlands with sights of tea and coffee plantations. There will be a brief stop at Karatina town to see and experience the largest open-air market in East Africa. You will arrive in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Aberdare National Park has mountain ranges, which rise up to 4,300m high with rivers descending on scarps forming beautiful waterfalls. The Solio sanctuary’s rare black and white rhinos, plenty bird species and overnight animal seeing will make your trip memorable. You may see from your lodge’s deck Elephants, Rhinos, Leopard, Bushbucks and Forest Hogs, drinking water from the near-by waterhole. More than 250 species of birds are evident in the park as well.

Day 5: Aberdare – Lake Nakuru National Park
Rise up for an early breakfast and later on embark on your journey to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru National Park is a standpoint and harbor for watching more than 400 species of birds in rift valley. As you visit the lake, game animals are in large numbers. Hippos, buffalos and many species of birds are unstoppable. Flamingos are prominently notable just like in Lake Naivasha. Nakuru National Park is home to few remaining Rhinos in Kenya. The Park also offers great sightseeing of larger predators like the lions and Leopards.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Reserve
Depart Lake Nakuru National Park for Masai Mara National Reserve after breakfast. For approximately 5 hours you will be skirting around Mau and Narok town arriving in Masai Mara in time for lunch. After lunch check in to your rooms there after head out for an afternoon game drive.

Day 7: Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve
You’ll have an early morning breakfast then proceed to the park for a full day game drive with packed lunch in search of wildlife. Masai Mara National Reserve is famous for The Big Five animals (Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Rhinos and Buffalo). What amazes travelers in this reserve is the annual migration of wildebeests. The animals shift on July and return on November and is among the seventh wonder of the world. The park has the largest concentration of African lions, including the black-maned lion. Bird life is in plenty as wildlife at the Mara, which boasts over 400 different bird species.

Day 8: Masai Mara – Lake Naivasha Crescent Island
After breakfast drive to Lake Naivasha Crescent Island for an approximate of 1 hour. Upon arrival you will embark on a mid morning boat ride and guided walk at the Crescent Island. Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake found in the great rift valley of Kenya. It has a dense population of animals such as hippos and several species of birds. Crescent Island is home to a number of bird species, which include the fish eagle, herons, crakes, cranes and more. The Island is also home to a number of wildlife that includes zebras, giraffes, waterbucks, Impalas, Kongoni among other animals.

Day 9: Lake Naivasha – Nairobi
After breakfast depart for Nairobi arriving later in the afternoon. Depending on your flight details, you can organize with your guide for a Nairobi City Tour there after a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your home bound flight.
